Aishling Muller is a contemporary fine art photographer and performance artist from the midlands of Ireland. She has always been fascinated by the human condition, spending her early years documenting cultures as a photographic observer.  Mid 2012 Aishling embarked on an intensive inner journey. This lead to a dramatic shift in the works she created, moving from an outsider documentary perspective to more self reflective inward creative process. By 2020 the pendulum found its middle ground as she began merging her social commentary voice with her self reflective practice.
Aishling Muller is a lens-based media artist working at the intersection of photography, performance, and symbolic documentary. Based in Ireland and part of the neurodiverse community, her practice explores inner and outer transformation—often through mythic structures of death, rebirth, and repair.

Her self-portraiture—both still and moving—fuses personal narrative with ecological and archetypal imagery, shaped by lived experiences of traumatic brain injury, chronic illness, and post-traumatic integration. Her visual language is embodied, intuitive, and grounded in presence—a poetic act of resistance and reflection.

Muller holds a BA in Audio/Visual Media and an MA in Art in the Digital World.
She has trained with Magnum Photos, the Marina Abramović Institute, and the Jungian School of South Africa, and also draws from storytelling and integrative therapeutic practices. She presented a TEDx talk, Rethinking Creativity in Reykjavik in 2017.

Her work has been presented internationally, including in the USA, Mexico, Greece, Iceland, Bangladesh, and Ireland. She is a member of Visual Artists Ireland, Live Art Ireland, and FISL (Iceland), and in 2023 became a partnered Artist for Air with Tomorrow’s Air.

She has received multiple Arts Council of Ireland awards. Her work continues to explore how symbolic language and mythic form can surface personal truth and invite collective witnessing.
Aishling Muller creates expanded narratives documenting times of transition and transformation both in her inner and outer world. She is inspired by nature's rhythm, death, rebirth, and the organic flow she finds in her constantly changing world, and creative process.

Concerning herself with themes of development and growth on individual, collective and environmental levels, she presents the audience with a platform for connection with the natural world and self-exploration, creating a space for reflection and expansion of awareness. Drawn to working within the purity of the natural environment, she documents those lands in the process of change by the hand of man, nature and in more recent times climate.

She creates multi-sensory installations, transforming spaces, combining photography, video, audio, performance, audience participation, sculpture, and word. Aishling uses only natural light, allowing day, time, season, and weather patterns to play an active role in her capture process.

By entering into a spontaneous process of unfolding, Aishling digitally captures traditional landscapes and self-portraits. Her eclectic works reflect simultaneously on the movement and stillness found within these dynamic times of transition. Her works step her audience into a fantasy immersed perception, contrasting the world of reality with the magic of its wonder.

Aishling shoots with a two camera Leica system with a 21, 35 and 90 mm lens kit. Aishling often shows her works within non arts spaces and tends to build each installation bespoke for a specific location and or event.
