The Freedom To Create Project was a community arts project which took place in Kinnegad, Westmeath over 8 weeks beginning May, 2011. The project provided a range of lens based arts workshops & trainings with the goals of participants gaining valuable creative skills while creating bodies of personal work for exhibition. It allowed local people an outlet for creative expression while at the same time promoting an awareness of arts within the community.

The workshops created an avenue through which the participants could freely express themselves through either photographic or video formats. Participants in turn expanded their existing skill set while undergoing and learning about the process of project concept development, production and presentation of their own works of art.
The project was targeted towards the unemployed in Westmeath. No previous experience was necessary to take part in the project. Participants showcased their work in exhibition upon completion of the program, which was exhibited again for Culture Night September 2011. |
Aishling's work with the Freedom To Create Project provided a
vibrant contemporary dimension to the fabric of visual arts in Westmeath.
