For Year Long Performance, performance artist Patricia Brace wears her go-to performance art uniform, documenting daily movement gestures in landscape. Additionally, through this work Brace hopes to intimately connect her visual art practice with her daily life.

For this piece, Aishing took a series of photographs depicting a "gestural landscape performance." These images were made by dancing or moving in exaggerated poses (like in a gesture drawing) while in nature. This could be in the woods, on the beach, or in another location where buildings were not visible. The photos were taken from a distance so that the Aishling's entire body is visible. Aishling wore a plain, all white outfit. This process was repeated again and again during the month of May 2021, resulting in 31 individual photos. |
The outfit started 10 years ago with my interest in early minimalist, dance-based performances and has evolved to symbolize women’s solidarity and the sacred transfer of life into death.
